TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING:
Read Joshua - Chapter 2
GOD IS AT WORK
Joshua 2:24 They said to Joshua, “The Lord has surely given the whole land into our hands;
God’s provision can be unquestionably seen throughout this chapter. In the previous chapter, God reminded Joshua to be strong and courageous and that He would victoriously give them the land they were about to pursue.
Spies were sent to Jericho (by Joshua) to check out the land. As they were headed to Jericho, word traveled fast about what God had already done for the Israelites. Rahab and the rest of the people had heard about God drying up the waters of the Jordan River. They had heard of God giving the Israelites victory over the Amorites.
God was at work.
He then went before the spies - placing fear in the hearts of the people of Jericho, while at the same time igniting faith in the heart of Rahab. She hid the spies and sent the king’s agents away. She knew that God would give them the land and that Jericho would fall. She made a covenant and committed herself to God. That decision lead to her being saved from the coming defeat and inclusion with the people of God.
God is at work.
As believers, let’s rest in the assurance that God has already gone before us to accomplish His will in our lives. He is working behind the scenes - orchestrating events, arranging paths to cross at just the right time and touching the hearts of those that will play a part in your victory. He is the perfect author - writing the script to our unfolding triumphant story. And like the spies, we too will joyfully proclaim “the Lord has surely given the whole land into our hands;!”
Lord, I know that you go before me. Help me to trust and obey each step of the way.
